Workshop Terms & Cancellation Policy
Please review the following terms before registering for a Gothland Artist Residency writing workshop.
These terms apply to online writing workshops offered by Gothland Artist Residency.
Registration & Payment
Workshop tuition, dates, duration, enrollment limits and available payment options are specified on each workshop's registration page.
Participants may pay the full tuition upon registration or, where offered, reserve their place with a deposit.
If a deposit option is selected, any remaining balance must be paid by the deadline stated at registration and in the enrollment confirmation.
Registration is confirmed following successful payment and confirmation of an available place.
If an outstanding balance is not paid by the stated deadline, Gothland Artist Residency may contact the participant to arrange payment or cancel the reservation and offer the place to another writer, subject to applicable consumer rights and the refund provisions below.
Statutory Right of Withdrawal — 14 Days
Participants registering online are entitled to withdraw from their workshop registration without providing a reason within 14 calendar days after the registration agreement is concluded.
The withdrawal period begins on the day following the conclusion of the agreement. If the final day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Swedish public holiday, the deadline extends to the next working day.
To exercise this right, participants must communicate their decision to withdraw before the applicable deadline. They may do so by emailing refunds@gothlandresidency.se, using the online withdrawal function provided, or making another clear statement of their decision.
Participants may also use the standard withdrawal form provided by Konsumentverket, although use of that form is not mandatory.
When a participant exercises their statutory withdrawal right, Gothland Artist Residency will refund all payments received, including any deposit, within 14 days of receiving the withdrawal notice, except for any proportionate payment lawfully due for services already provided.
Refunds will ordinarily be made using the original payment method, without additional fees.
Participation During the Withdrawal Period
If a workshop begins before a participant's statutory 14-day withdrawal period has expired, the participant retains their withdrawal rights.
Where a participant expressly requests that instruction begin during their withdrawal period, Gothland Artist Residency may, where legally permitted and provided the required information has been supplied, retain a proportionate amount for instruction delivered before the withdrawal request.
Participation in a workshop does not automatically eliminate the statutory withdrawal right.
No deduction will be made for instruction delivered during the withdrawal period unless the legal conditions for such a deduction have been satisfied.
Voluntary Cancellations Before a Workshop Begins
We understand that plans can change.
In addition to statutory withdrawal rights, Gothland Artist Residency offers a voluntary cancellation policy.
Participants who cancel at least 14 calendar days before the workshop's scheduled start date will receive a full refund of all tuition paid, including any deposit.
For cancellations received fewer than 14 calendar days before the workshop begins, after any applicable statutory withdrawal period has expired, Gothland Artist Residency may deduct a reasonable cancellation fee reflecting costs incurred and losses resulting from the cancellation, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Any remaining tuition paid, including any deposit, will be refunded.
The deposit is not automatically nonrefundable.
Participants may request cancellation by emailing refunds@gothlandresidency.se with their name and workshop title. The date the cancellation request is received determines which voluntary cancellation terms apply.
Cancellation After a Workshop Begins
Participants may request cancellation after a workshop has begun.
Where the statutory withdrawal period has expired, any refund will be assessed in accordance with applicable consumer protection law, taking into account instruction already delivered, reasonable costs incurred, and losses resulting from the cancellation that cannot reasonably be avoided.
The full course fee will not automatically be forfeited solely because the workshop has begun.
Requests involving illness, unforeseen circumstances or other exceptional situations will be considered individually.
Cancellation by Gothland Artist Residency
If Gothland Artist Residency cancels a workshop before it begins, participants will receive a full refund of all tuition paid.
If a workshop cannot continue after it has begun, participants will receive an appropriate refund for sessions not delivered or another arrangement agreed upon with the participant, without limiting applicable legal rights.
Attendance & Participation
Gothland writing workshops are live, discussion-based learning experiences. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, complete assigned readings and writing exercises, and participate thoughtfully in group discussions and critiques.
Missed sessions do not ordinarily qualify for refunds, without limiting applicable consumer rights.
Participants are expected to respect fellow writers, maintain the confidentiality of work shared within the group and provide constructive feedback.
Intellectual Property & Workshop Materials
Participants retain ownership of their original writing.
Writing shared during a workshop may not be reproduced, distributed or published by other participants without the author's permission.
Course readings, writing prompts and other workshop materials are provided for participants' personal educational use. Materials may not be redistributed without permission from the relevant rights holder.
Privacy & Communications
Personal information collected during registration will be used to administer enrollment, payments and workshop communications.
Optional newsletters and marketing communications require separate consent.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and Gothland Artist Residency's privacy policy.
